How I Stay Active During A Holiday
Sep 28, 2022
I recently got asked this question so I thought I’d share what I get up to while for exercise after recently going away for a 5 day trip.
Firstly, holidays are about doing all the things you love and doing what FEELS good. For me and my mental health/self care, that’s movement! I genuinely love it so I make sure I schedule it in.
Secondly, exercise during a holiday should be FUN and adaptable. I generally don’t do any resistance training and will instead use it as an opportunity to explore my surroundings. Running/walking is ideal for that! Anything that gets the heart pumping and circulation/digestion going.
My partner and I are both runners so we tag teamed looking after the kids so we could get a few trail runs in.
Between a few runs and plenty of exploring in nature with the kids, there was plenty of activity points accumulated!
The wine, chocolate and treats tasted even yummier!
A few tips for feeling good on holiday:
1. Plan ahead and pack your exercise gear (runners, activewear, hat, headphones etc).
2. Decide what kind of movement you want to do and chat to those you are going with in case you need to plan babysitters etc.
3. Get up early and get it done! (Before the kids wake is a bonus!). Mornings are so magical and sacred šš¼
4. Plan activities during the day which will get your steps up (we did a few stunning nature walks with heaps to see to keep everyone entertained).
5. Rest and relax. A big part of holidays is to rejuvenate and reset! So when you’ve started your day on such a high the relaxation feels even better.
