For far too long, conversations about vaginal health have been hushed, taboo, and often clouded by shame. Many women feel isolated when dealing with recurring infections like yeast, BV (bacterial vaginosis), UTIs, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as herpes and HPV. But here’s the truth: you are not alone, and there is a better way forward.

In this week’s episode of The Hayley Morcom Podcast, I had the privilege of speaking with Adrienne Rommel, also known as The Yoni Nutritionist. Adrienne is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Sexual Health Advocate who specializes in helping women heal the root causes of vaginal health issues through nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and mindset work.

Her story is powerful, her expertise is grounded, and her message is clear: vaginal health issues are common, but they are not something you have to live with.

Why We Need to Have This Conversation

Many women have been conditioned to feel shame about their bodies—especially when something feels "off" or when dealing with recurring infections. We were often taught to push these experiences aside or to believe they were simply “normal.” But recurring infections, discomfort, and shame around sexual health are not something we need to quietly endure.

Adrienne’s journey is one that so many women will find relatable. After struggling with persistent yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, HPV, and herpes outbreaks, she reached a point where conventional medicine could no longer offer answers or relief. That’s when she turned to holistic nutrition and lifestyle changes to heal from within.

Today, Adrienne helps women around the world reclaim their health and confidence by addressing not only their physical health, but also the emotional and mental blocks that often accompany these conditions.

What Every Woman Should Know About Vaginal Health

During our conversation, Adrienne shared eye-opening facts that every woman should know:

  • 64% of the world’s population has HSV-1 (herpes simplex virus type 1), which can be oral or genital.

  • 13% live with HSV-2, and bacterial vaginosis is the most common vaginal infection among women aged 15 to 49.

  • Yeast infections, BV, and UTIs are incredibly common, but they often stem from deeper imbalances in gut health, diet, stress levels, and lifestyle habits.

One of Adrienne’s key messages is that while these issues are common, they are not "normal." Your body is communicating with you, and these symptoms are signals that something deeper needs attention.

A Holistic Approach to Healing Vaginal Health Issues

Adrienne’s approach is refreshingly comprehensive. Healing vaginal health issues isn’t about a quick fix or temporary relief. It’s about addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Some of the strategies Adrienne recommends include:

  • Improving gut health through an anti-inflammatory, nutrient-rich diet

  • Reducing or eliminating triggers such as excess sugar, gluten, and dairy

  • Managing stress, which plays a significant role in recurring infections and outbreaks

  • Cultivating a healthy mindset by addressing shame and outdated beliefs around sex and body image

  • Understanding your cycle and how to support your body through its natural rhythms

  • Being proactive with sexual health conversations and personal hygiene practices

Adrienne’s story is proof that healing is possible. By taking a holistic approach, she was able to go from recurring infections and chronic stress to living a confident, healthy, and empowered life. And she’s helping countless women do the same.
